FAQs

What are the effects of Delta 8 Edibles?

The effects of orally consuming Delta 8 THC may take anywhere from 45 minutes to 4 hours to reach their peak, and they can last for as long as 12 hours or even longer.

A distinctive and advantageous characteristic of D8 THC is its ability to reduce or eliminate "mental fogginess" and paranoia, allowing users to take it without hindering their ability to perform daily tasks.

However, some negative effects may occur, such as drowsiness, upset stomach, dry mouth, red eyes, and headaches.

How is Delta 8 THC made?

Delta 8 THC is present in cannabis plants, including both hemp and marijuana, but its natural occurrence is in very limited amounts. This means that although it can be found in all hemp plants, hemp products, and most CBD products, the concentration is so minimal that it cannot be extracted and utilized in affordable quantities for widespread use. Fortunately, one of the advantageous aspects of cannabis plants is the close structural relation between their chemical components.

Is Delta 8 THC Legal?

Delta 8 THC became legal through the enactment of H.R. 2: The Agricultural Improvement Act of 2018, commonly known as the 2018 Farm Bill. Unlike regular THC, Delta 8 THC products are derived from federally legal hemp, making them legal on a federal level. Prior to 2018, Delta 8 THC products were illegal and explicitly listed in the Controlled Substances Act. However, the 2018 Farm Bill not only legalized all hemp cannabinoids, isomers, and derivatives but also addressed any ambiguity in the law by excluding Delta 8 THC from the definition of hemp.

Under the provisions of the bill, Delta 8 THC products are considered federally legal as long as they contain low concentrations of Delta 9 THC, as stated in the bill (less than 0.3%). While Delta 8 THC products are legal in most states that have hemp laws similar to H.R. 2, not all states have adopted such legislation. Some states specifically exclude Delta 8 THC products, making them illegal in those particular regions.

Will I pass a drug test on Delta 8 THC?

No, unlike hemp-derived CBD, using Delta 8 THC may cause you to test positive on drug tests because the metabolites (chemical structure) are either the same as or too similar to Delta 9 THC, leading to a positive result.

Is Delta 8 THC safe?

Delta 8 THC has been used safely in the marijuana market for several years. However, the products in this market usually obtain Delta 8 through the isomerization of Delta 9 THC, not from CBD products. These processes are slightly different, and as a result, the Delta 8 products derived from Delta 9 THC often contain a significant amount (ranging from 5% to 50%) of Delta 9 THC alongside Delta 8 THC, which are typical in cannabis products.

On the other hand, when Delta 8 THC is derived from hemp, a distinct process must be employed to ensure that the end product remains classified as "hemp," which mandates containing less than 0.3% Delta 9 THC. This differentiation is necessary to comply with the legal requirements for hemp-derived products.
